The technology behind a better visit
Premium dental tech, in our Chandler office
You'll see it on day one — the same in-office technology that bigger specialty practices use, brought to your routine family dental visit in Chandler. No extra trip across town, no waiting weeks for outside labs, no guesswork on the X-ray.

AI-assisted dental X-rays
Dentrix-integrated AI reads your bitewings alongside Dr. Annamareddy — flagging early decay, calculus, bone loss. You see the same overlay we do.
3D cone-beam imaging
In-office cone-beam scans for implant planning, full-mouth rehab, and complex root canals. Most Chandler general practices refer this out — we do it here.

Family visits, practical detail
Kids, siblings, and the school-day calendar: how a Chandler family visit actually runs
A “family dentist” only works if the schedule does. Below is how we actually run first visits for kids, stack siblings into one trip, handle the teen-to-adult transition, and tuck appointments around the Chandler school calendar without turning a cleaning into a half-day off work.
Path 1 · Your child’s first dental visit
Age 1 to 3 — the “knee-to-knee” visit
- · 20–30 minutes total. Parent stays in the room.
- · We sit knee-to-knee with you; your child’s head rests in our lap so they can see your face the whole time.
- · First pass is a count-and-look, soft-bristle brush demo, and a fluoride varnish if teeth are erupted.
- · No X-rays at this age unless something specific shows on exam.
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends the first visit by age 1 or within 6 months of the first tooth. We schedule these short on purpose — the goal is “dentist = familiar,” not a full workup.
Path 2 · School-age kids, school-day timing
Ages 4–12 — early Thursday or after 3:30 PM
- · Thursday opens 7 AM — in-and-out before first period at Hamilton, Basha, CTA, or Chandler-CUSD elementaries.
- · After-school slots (Tue/Wed 3:30–6 PM) fill 2 weeks out; book the next cleaning at checkout for the slot you actually want.
- · What to bring: insurance card, list of any meds, and a quick note if there’s a sport mouthguard or orthodontic retainer in play.
- · First-visit X-rays for school-age kids are 2–4 bitewings (low-dose digital) — takes about 4 minutes.
We don’t schedule cleanings the week before standardized testing — numb lips and an algebra exam don’t mix. Tell us at booking and we’ll route around it.
Path 3 · Stack siblings, save trips
2–4 kids, one appointment block
- · We block back-to-back operatories so siblings can come in on the same trip — usually 60–90 minutes total for 2–3 kids.
- · Younger sibling watches the older one first — reduces first-visit anxiety on the toddler by about half, in our experience.
- · Parent can stay with the youngest while the older kids cycle through — no juggling.
- · If insurance benefit years differ across kids (a remarriage / step-family situation), front desk will line up the EOBs before the visit so you don’t get surprise invoices later.
Sibling stacking books out fastest in August (back-to-school cleanings) and December (end-of-benefit-year). If you want either window, book 4–6 weeks ahead.
Path 4 · Teen-to-adult transition
Ages 16–22 — college, insurance, and the wisdom-teeth window
- · Wisdom-teeth panoramic X-ray around age 16–18 — we flag if removal is recommended before college rather than during winter break.
- · College-bound teens get a 6-month-out cleaning plus a written summary they can show their college clinic if a flare-up happens.
- · Parent insurance usually covers dependents to age 26 — we’ll verify dependent-coverage status before the visit so a 23-year-old home for the holidays isn’t a surprise self-pay.
- · Invisalign, whitening, and night-guard conversations land naturally at this age — see the Invisalign in Chandler page for what teen treatment actually looks like.
Snowbird grandparents in Sun Lakes? We coordinate their visits the same trip when grandkids come through — see the Sun Lakes dentist page for snowbird scheduling detail.
Most of this is just paying attention to how a family actually moves — school bells, work calendars, benefit-year deadlines, who’s nervous and who isn’t. If you’re bringing in kids for the first time, our guide to Chandler water fluoride and kids’ teeth and the thumb-sucking and front teeth explainer cover the two questions Chandler parents ask us most.

Chandler family dentistry — what parents ask
Family dentistry in Chandler, AZ
We're a Chandler family dentist by appointment book — toddlers, school-age kids, anxious teens, busy parents, and grandparents all rotate through the same operatories on a normal week. That shapes how we run the schedule: Thursday opens at 7 AM for kids who can't miss first period, Tuesday and Wednesday close late for working parents, and same-family back-to-back blocks let you knock out two or three checkups in one trip from the south Chandler / Sun Lakes / Ocotillo corridor.
What age should kids start seeing a dentist?
Pediatric guidelines say first visit by age one or six months after the first tooth — whichever comes first. In practice, most Chandler families bring their first child between 18 months and 3 years for a "knee-to-knee" exam: short, gentle, mostly about getting them comfortable with the chair so the real cleaning at age 3 isn't a fight.
What if my child is anxious about the dentist?
Most childhood dental anxiety is about the unknown, not pain. We start with a tour, no instruments, no rush. For kids who need more support we offer nitrous oxide ("laughing gas") in our Chandler office — safe, wears off in minutes, and lets a stressful visit go by without a memory worth dreading the next one.
Can the whole family be seen on the same visit?
Yes — call or text 480-840-1101 and ask the front desk to stack the family. Two adults plus two kids is routine; we'll block 90 minutes across two operatories so nobody waits in the lobby. Saturday mornings book the fastest, so call 1–2 weeks ahead if that's the only slot that works.
Do you take our family's dental insurance?
We accept every major PPO in Arizona — Delta Dental, Cigna, Aetna, MetLife, United Concordia, BCBS, Ameritas, Guardian, Principal, and more. We're in-network for most of them. Send us your card photo before the first visit and we'll verify the family's combined benefits and remaining annual maximum so the treatment plan you take home shows real out-of-pocket.
What does a first-visit family exam actually cost?
With insurance, most preventive exams (exam + X-rays + cleaning) are 100% covered for both kids and adults — your out-of-pocket is usually $0. Without insurance, our new patient exam + X-rays special is $89 per person; ask about the in-house family plan if more than one household member needs ongoing care without insurance, since it discounts most preventive and restorative work and there are no annual maximums to bump up against.
Comparing Chandler family dentists? Our Chandler dentist homepage covers the whole practice, or jump to new patients for what to bring and how the first visit runs. Same office, same team for the whole family — no separate pediatric specialist referral for routine kid visits.
Further reading for Chandler parents: our deep-dive on how Chandler water fluoride affects kids' teeth explains why we still recommend a fluoride varnish at most pediatric checkups even though the city water already has it, and our thumb-sucking and front-teeth guide covers when to intervene, the age window that matters most, and what Chandler parents typically try before an orthodontic referral.
