Sleep apnea screening
Snoring or restless sleep? We now screen and treat sleep apnea in-office — a high-impact addition for Sun Lakes patients 55 and up.
New in-office service
Snoring or restless sleep? Ask about a sleep apnea screening.
Untreated obstructive sleep apnea is far more common in patients over 55 than most people realize — and it's tied to high blood pressure, daytime fatigue, and the kind of nighttime tooth grinding that wears crowns down years early. Dr. Annamareddy now screens for sleep apnea right alongside your routine Chandler / Sun Lakes exam, so you don't need a separate trip to a sleep clinic just to find out. Our sleep apnea screening guide covers what the screening actually looks like, the questions we ask, and which patients we typically refer to a sleep physician for an at-home study.

Sun Lakes implants — what to know
Dental implants for Sun Lakes residents
We're a Sun Lakes implant dentist by geography and by patient mix — most of our implant cases live within five miles of the office. That has practical consequences for how we plan treatment: snowbird seasons matter, post-55 bone density gets its own conversation, and same-day comfort options are not a marketing line — they are most of what we do.
How long does the full implant process take?
Most single-tooth implants run 3–6 months from consult to final crown — placement is one visit, healing is the long part. For Sun Lakes snowbirds we plan around your departure date so the surgical phase finishes before you leave town and the restoration phase picks up when you return.
Am I too old for dental implants?
Age alone is rarely the limiting factor — our oldest implant patients are well into their 80s. What matters is bone volume, general health, and whether you can tolerate the placement appointment. The 3D cone-beam scan tells us all three in a single visit.
What if I don't have enough bone for an implant?
Common at 55+ if a tooth has been missing for years. We do bone grafting and sinus lifts in-house — often the same day as the consult — and we'll show you on the scan exactly what we're working with before you commit to anything.
Can I have implant surgery with sedation?
Yes. Nitrous oxide for routine cases, oral sedation for anxious patients or longer multi-implant appointments. You arrive, you rest, the work happens, and someone drives you home. We coordinate the medication timing the day before so there are no surprises.
Will my Medicare or PPO cover any of it?
Original Medicare doesn't cover implants. Many Medicare Advantage plans do, partially — usually a fixed annual dollar cap. PPO dental plans vary widely; we run the verification before your consult so the written treatment plan you take home already shows your out-of-pocket. If you have no dental coverage, ask about our in-house plan with implant-procedure discounts built in.

Snowbird scheduling — how Sun Lakes patients actually plan it
Arrival, departure, and the handoff with your summer-home dentist
Most Sun Lakes patients we see split the year between Arizona and a summer home — Minnesota, Wisconsin, the Pacific Northwest, the northeast. That changes how we schedule. A treatment plan we'd run over six weeks for a full-time Chandler patient gets paced differently when you fly out March 28. Here's the calendar logic we use and what to tell your summer dentist so the two practices stay in sync.
Arrival window · October–November
What to schedule in the first three weeks
- Cleaning + exam first. If you only have time for one Arizona visit before the holidays, this is it — we catch anything new and refresh the plan your summer dentist sent over.
- Consults next. Implant, denture, sedation, or sleep apnea consult — book it within the first two weeks if it's on your radar. That way the procedure itself can be staged with healing time before you fly out.
- Holiday calendar. Mid-November through New Year's books out fast. If you want a same-day crown or a Christmas-eve emergency slot, the time to call is October — not December 23.
Call or text 480-840-1101 the week you land — we hold returning-patient slots through the end of October.
Departure window · March–April
Finishing treatment before you fly out
- Anchor the last visit, then back-fill. Tell us your flight date when we plan staged work. We anchor the final crown delivery, denture try-in, or implant restoration to a date two weeks before departure — gives a buffer for any small adjustments.
- One last cleaning before you leave. A 6-month cadence usually means a March or April cleaning here, then your next one is up north in September. We sync the timing so you're not double-cleaned or 9 months between.
- Refills and night guards. Hard to ship and easy to forget — pick up any prescription refills, replacement aligners, or a new night guard at the cleaning visit.
Snowbird emergencies the week before a flight: same-day temp fix, full repair after you return. We'll say so on the phone.
Summer-home dentist handoff
Records moving both directions, no awkward overlap
- We send and receive electronically. Digital X-rays, treatment plans, periodontal charting, and the 3D cone-beam scan all transfer to your summer practice on request — usually same day. Same for records coming the other way before your first visit here.
- One written plan, two practices. When work is staged across both offices (e.g., implant placement here, crown restoration up north), we share the staged plan with your summer dentist so nothing gets re-done or re-billed.
- Insurance benefit periods reset January 1. If you have annual-maximum work to finish, we'll usually start it here in October or November so it bills against the calendar year that's about to end — not the one that just started.
Tell us your summer practice name and phone at the first visit — that's the only paperwork we need to keep the handoff smooth.
Insurance verification before you fly in
Medicare Advantage, multi-state PPOs, and what to bring
- Bring the card and the EOB. A Medicare Advantage card alone doesn't always tell us your dental allowance — bring the latest Explanation of Benefits or member booklet and we'll verify in one call.
- Multi-state PPOs need a heads-up. Delta, Cigna, MetLife, and BCBS plans tied to a non-Arizona employer sometimes route claims through a different state office. Call us a week before your first appointment so we can verify before you sit down.
- No coverage? Ask about the in-house plan. Flat monthly fee, no deductible, no annual max — built for snowbirds who don't want to juggle two state-specific PPOs.
We verify benefits and email you a written estimate before the first appointment — no surprise bills walking out.
Every snowbird patient we see runs this same calendar: land in October, cleaning + exam first, consults in week two, big procedures staged before December, finishing visits in March. The difference between a smooth six-month rotation and a stressful one is almost always how early the first call goes in. Our Sun Lakes implants after 55 guide walks through the staged-treatment side in more detail; our Chandler implants page covers the procedure depth, and our in-house dental plan is built for patients without traditional PPO coverage.
